Tooth removal
Taking out a tooth that can't be saved, and planning what comes next.
Dr. Almaraz only recommends taking out a tooth when repairing it isn't possible or wouldn't help. First she explains the other options, what happens if you wait and what comes afterward.
What it includes
An exam and, if needed, an X-ray
Numbing the area
Taking the tooth out
Written instructions for afterward

What happens
A simple removal is usually one visit. A badly damaged tooth or a wisdom tooth may need an oral surgeon; she tells you ahead of time.

You get written instructions and a number to call.
Comfort, alternatives and aftercare
Comfort
We numb the area before we start. If you feel pain, raise your hand and we stop to check.
Alternatives and waiting
Sometimes the tooth can be repaired. If waiting is possible, Dr. Almaraz tells you the risks, such as an infection, and you decide.
Aftercare and billing
The site can bleed a little and be tender for several days. If the bleeding doesn't stop, call us or go to an emergency room. You get the cost in writing before we start.
